Growing trends that will impact the year 2018 for México

Escrito por Luis Ebenezer | Jan 3, 2018 10:55:44 PM

2017 was a year of great events, Trump's presidency and his absurd position on the border wall and NAFTA, the ridiculous bitcoin rise, the horrible acts of sexual abuse in the entertainment world and the two earthquakes that shook Mexico. All of this and more has led to major changes in how we think, consume and visualize our immediate future.

Once we have finished celebrating the end of the previous year and we leave behind the champagne, the hugs, the good wishes and the countless parties and reunions with friends and family, I want to stop and ask what is waiting for us this 2018?, what we will face and how it will force us to change the direction towards a different and much more calculated communication.

Without speculating, I'll introduce you some new issues that will be part of our daily life during 2018. And which plans and strategies must be established from now on, so we will stand out of the crowd in the next media movement.

POLITICS - Elections year

The Prophecy

Regardless of being or not supporters of a candidate, this year the elections will be present in most of the social conversations: Facebook, Twitter, and any other digital platform will be flooded with thoughts, opinions, trolling and much political sensationalism.

What we should expect

After the official elections campaigns launch for 128 senators, 500 federal deputies, 983 local deputies, 2,242 mayorships and, of course, the Mexican president, at least 8 billion pesos in public financing for promotion and more than 20 million spots on radio and television will attack us as plague without truce.

SPORTS - From Russia to the world

The Prophecy

Every World Cup (no matter how many times our hearts have been broken) we Mexicans dream of watching the national team reach the fifth game, and not only that but deep down we still hope of winning the cup and avenge the national pride.

What we should expect

According to a study conducted by Magna Global, the investment in sporting events advertising worldwide will be around 5 billion dollars in 2018, independently of the regular investment. Television, radio, internet, restaurants, consumer centers, shops, schools and almost any point of our life will be focused on this event. Like it or not, for a month and a day we will breathe, sweat and live around football.

From huge global brands to little stands in the corners of Mexico,  will use each game as a hook to attract customers, users and consumers influenced by the passion of soccer.
